Head's Welcome

Mrs Browne, our Headteacher.

Wheelwright Lane Primary School is situated in Ash Green, a small area of Exhall, on the Coventry and Warwickshire border.

The school is a well-established and integral part of the community it serves and the community itself provides the basis for parts of our curriculum. Children from local Warwickshire and Coventry areas attend the school. It is a very popular small school with a warm, friendly atmosphere.

Built over 80 years ago the school has seen many changes both to the fabric of the building and in the learning that takes place inside. More recently, a Nursery building has been added and the school now has responsibility for its own Nursery. Overall responsibility lies with the school’s Governing Body.

The school also has an Ofsted approved before and after school facility to support our very busy parents. However the main thing we don’t wish to change is instilling a love of learning into our children. We believe we are all lifelong learners together at Wheelwright Lane.

We have 220 children on roll in school and 40 children in the Nursery and are very lucky and unique in the area as we also enjoy very close links with our neighbouring schools; Exhall Grange Specialist School and Science College and RNIB Pears Centre. This enables some very successful joined up working to take place.

We are always striving to make new connections within our community and we value the working relationships our children have with our many community friends and visitors.

All of our classes have access to quality Teachers and a full time Teaching Assistant. The site itself is spread out over extensive grounds which we also use as a focus for learning.

We also enrich our curriculum with exciting extra-curricular clubs including all manner of sporting activities, cookery club and knitting club, to name a few,: and curriculum enrichment days such as, Following in Darwin’s Footsteps Days, Creative Arts Day, Schools Grounds Day, Crystal Maze Maths Investigation Days and many more. They all help to provide stimulating learning opportunities that support children’s development.

Visitors are always welcomed with a smile from our children and our staff. Please feel free to come along and see for yourself what a great school we have. Just make an appointment with the school office and you will be very welcome to see our school in action.

I hope you enjoy the website and I look forward to seeing you soon.
