Keeping Children Safe

Monday, 10 June 2019

Mrs Harris delivered an important safety message to all reception children today. The Child Accident Prevention Trust has issued all schools with an educational resource to help children understand how to stay safe around cleaning and laundry products. Research indicates that children aged between 3 and 4 will put things in their mouths as a natural way of exploring their world and accidental poisoning is the third most common reason for children to be admitted to hospital.

All the children were aware of similar products that they had seen at home.

The story they listened to gave clear messages that they shouldn’t eat, drink or touch any of cleaning or household products and to always ask a grown up before touching any bottle. The children then produced their own safety posters.
