Pupils take action to help Aaron

Friday, 24 May 2013

Sir Alan Sugar would have been impressed by our entrepreneurial duo! On their own initiative, with some backup from their families, the girls sold cakes, drinks and ice creams to people passing by. On such a hot sunny day they offered the drinks for free, as a result, they did a brisk trade and raised an amazing £23.

Well done girls we are very proud of the care and thought you have shown and we know that Aaron’s parents will be extremely pleased.

Aaron’s American Appeal

Friday, 24 May 2013

We held the first of our school’s fund raising events for Aaron and his family last night. We had an excellent turnout to our two school discos, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 showed us that sometimes its the old songs that we like best, by nearly all joining in with the “Hokey Cokey. Later on as soon as “Gangnam Style” blasted out, our older pupils were all keen to join in and enjoy the music.  Many thanks to Darren the D.J. who very kindly provided the music at no charge.

Together we raised an amazing £318.42p. Thankyou all for your support.

We hope to use this blog space as a way to keep both our parents and Aaron’s parents in touch with one another.

Watch this space for further details and a running total of funds raised. Comments and good wishes can be added.

Match reported by Thomas and Owen Y6

The Football Team

Last Monday, after school, Wheelwright Lane played a friendly against St Francis.  Both teams played extremely well.  A few minutes into the game St Francis got a corner, which was volleyed into the bottom corner to make it 0-1. Our team were really disappointed, but we didn’t give up. Five minutes later, to make Wheelwright Lane happy, a free kick was taken by Thomas which unfortunately hit the post, but then Sam scored making it 1-1.

After halftime, Miss Niland boosted the team even stronger than the first half, so we took to the field with our heads held high ready for whatever St Francis threw at us. Ten minutes before the match ended Wheelwright Lane were full of attack, Thomas was lucky with a perfect pass through to Daniel, who scored the winning goal for Wheelwright Lane and made it 2-1.

Got it over the post, phew!

St Francis were  not giving up and still on the attack, one player from their team had a shot, but not good enough to beat the goalie who tipped it over the bar. They also had a corner, but this time it went over the bar then the ref blew the whistle to end the game and we won 2-1. There was celebration all around, it was the first game we had won this season.

Year 6 Help Reception to Log In

Friday, 3 May 2013

This afternoon our year six pupils really enjoyed showing Reception pupils how to log in for the first time onto our network. Sitting together in the I.T. Suite they were able to talk them through the process. It seemed to work well, at this rate we will soon have all our reception pupils logging in independently.

We start with " Ready Steady Go."
