Early Years – Can you help

Thursday, 11 April 2019

The Early Years team have been busy enhancing our outdoor area, where most of the children enjoy learning and exploring. The focus is on physical development, creativity and effective learning skills, which is key to successful learning now and in the future. Our vision is to have numerous areas full of natural loose parts that the children can use in a variety of ways.

If you are able to donate any of the following items it would be greatly appreciated:

  • Broom handles
  • Swimming noodles (floats)
  • Newspaper
  • Wellies – children size 10,11,12
  • Rolls of wall paper
  • Off-cuts of material – particularly anything that has a texture e.g. fluffy, furry
  • Astroturf off-cuts
  • Old phones
  • Old over-ears headphones
  • Pasta maker
  • Locks and keys
  • Sandpaper
  • Old Paint brushes and rollers (usable condition)
  • Wooden workbench and vice
  • Old fashioned type writer
  • Till
  • Weighing scales – old hanging greengrocer type!
  • Pulleys
  • Rounded fence posts
  • Old vacuum hoses

Indeed anything that you think will add to the learning experience

Thank you for your support

Man-made or Natural

Tuesday, 22 January 2019

This beautiful winter morning Reception and Nursery pupils  put on their warm coats and hats, pulled on our wellies and went for a walk around the school playing field. We were looking for items and deciding if they were natural or man-made.

The sun was warm on our backs and cast long shadows, something else to chat about.

Still it was nice to come back in to the warmth of the Nursery where we read a lovely book called Stick Man.

Reception and nursery health week

Tuesday, 3 July 2018

Today the Reception and Nursery children had the chance to try out two different types of exercise. In the morning Mrs Haines introduced the children to dance classes.

The afternoon was filled with a Kung Fu and boxing session led by Mr and Mrs Checkley.

Many thanks to these parents for giving up their time to help support our Health Week in the EYFS.

Tomorrow we will be talking all about teeth.

Forest School

Monday, 21 May 2018

Nursery had a lovely time last week outside by a forest fire. Miss Mary a fully trained forest school teacher made sure that all was safe and secure.

The children were able to whittle sticks to push a marshmallow on to, sing some campfire songs and enjoy a sizzling hot suasage.

The weather was perfect too, not too hot!

Nursery’s Egg Hunt

Thursday, 19 April 2018

“The children took part in an Easter Egg Hunt in nursery today. They were all very excited however it was good to see how their relationships are developing and how they are learning to share and support each other.

They worked together to make sure that everyone found an egg. They were then very patient and waited until they were all found before helping to count the eggs and distribute them fairly.”

Nursery Visit the Snow Mouse at Warwick Arts Centre

Wednesday, 20 December 2017

The Nursery children have spent a charming morning at the theatre. We went to see the Snow Mouse. As we arrived we were asked to take our shoes off and then we headed into a snowy wonderland.

The children, staff and parents got comfy on cushions and waited for the mouse and his human friend to entertain us. All of the children were transfixed as they watched the snowy adventure develop. Watching the children laugh and seeing their eyes sparkle was truly magical.
The children have been recounting the tale and sharing their experiences. One child commented on the part he enjoyed most: “the funny bit when it snored asleep”.
The children’s behaviour was exemplary and made us all proud.
Thank you so much to all the parents and volunteers that joined us.

Nursery have a busy time!

Sorting and labelling nursery resources to help the children put things away when they are finished learning and playing. Thought these lovely photos helped to show how much they have to learn.

Nursery Enjoy the Snow

Wednesday, 18 January 2017

The nursery children made the most of the snow fall last week. They ventured onto the school field and found just enough snow to make a snow ball or two. The children commented on the properties of the snow “it’s cold” and “it feels wet”. One child commented that “the sun will make the snow go away because the sun is hot, hot, hot.”
