Nursery’s Egg Hunt

Thursday, 19 April 2018

“The children took part in an Easter Egg Hunt in nursery today. They were all very excited however it was good to see how their relationships are developing and how they are learning to share and support each other.

They worked together to make sure that everyone found an egg. They were then very patient and waited until they were all found before helping to count the eggs and distribute them fairly.”

Trip to the Gurdwara

Thursday, 22 March 2018

Year two enjoyed their visit to the Gurdwara in Coventry. We were met by Mr Dhaliwal who took us all round the building. The children were able to hear all about the Sikh religion, see the prayer hall with the holy book and the Langar where warm food is available daily. All the children were given a bag of crisps and a drink – the offering of food is very much a part of the Sikh religion.

Langar is the term used in Sikhism for the community kitchen in a Gurdwara where a free meal is served to all the visitors.  Everything we saw was interesting and very beautiful.

Year 5 Art Week

Tuesday, 20 March 2018

Thank you again to parents who came in for the Art afternoon.

Year 5 children began painting their moonscapes.

Parents were a great help and the children were happy to let them work hard on their sculptures (I think they worked harder than the children!).

Year 1 Assembly

Friday, 16 March 2018

Year 1 performed their first class assembly in front of a very big audience of proud parents and carers.

They all spoke well and gave us lots of information about their visit to the post office.

The children spent lots of time building and decorating their houses, its always a topic that the children really enjoy.

Thank you to all the family members that were able to attend, it always makes such a difference.

Year 5 Assembly

Monday, 5 March 2018

The assembly was scripted by class teacher Mr Trew and was all about Ancient Greece, the class topic for the term.

It featured a famous story from Ancient Greece once thought to be a myth, the battle of Troy, between the Trojans and the Athenians.  It was a war that went on for 10 years between King Menelaus (The Greeks) and King Priam (The Trojans) and somewhere into the mix – care of Mr Trew’s script Cristiano Ronaldo kept popping up.

There is evidence that Troy was a real place and that it was involved in wars…sadly some of it is lost beneath the waves!

Attendance W/C 12th February

A reminder that leave of absence can only be granted under exceptional circumstances. The Government are quite clear on the importance of children’s full attendance in school and Headteachers’ responsibilities in ensuring maximum attendance.

Leave of absence is judged on individual merit and circumstances judged in line with other schools in the area to ensure a consistent approach is achieved by all local schools.

Science in Year 6

Monday, 12 February 2018

In our science lessons, we have been learning about evolution and inheritance. We wanted to put Charles Darwin’s finches theory to the test. An experiment was conducted to test which type of beak was the most successful when trying to gather food and how this lead to adaptation.

Tearing leaves apart.

Which is best to pick up worms?

Which is best to pick up seeds.
