Year 4 Trip to Poole’s Cavern, Buxton

Friday, 12 May 2017

Year 4 visited Poole’s Cavern in Buxton on Wednesday.

The cavern was formed millions of years ago from water flowing underground through limestone creating an enormous cavern. The topic for Year 4 this term is volcanoes, and the trip was used to highlight the power of liquids flowing through the earth.

The caverns were amazing with some of the longest stalactites in the U.K.

After lunch there was a walk up to Solomon’s Temple with some stunning views of Derbyshire

Impromptu Volcano Day at the Park

Tuesday, 2 May 2017

Year 4 were disappointed when the coach for their trip to Derbyshire didn’t turn up, so a trip to Bedworth Park and Library was decided to compensate.

At the park the children gathered together natural materials to outline and label a volcano. They then did and experiment to show how the lava would flow it looks very realistic the weather was warm enough to sit and eat lunch outside. The trip has been re-arranged for next week.
