Guitar Recital

Tuesday, 14 July 2015

Ks2 pupils beginners and advanced group played a number of musical pieces for the whole school including our nursery children yesterday. The beginners who have only been playing for a year played a Dutch folk song and a Chinese tune. They then swapped over with the advanced group who played an eclectic mix of three pieces including 12 Bar Blues, Dance by Haydn (from 1795) and finished with a Spanish Flamenco.

Martyn the teacher from Warwickshire Music Services said they had all played with skill and hoped some of the pupils who were leaving would keep it up as they show some real talent. Well done to all, it takes a lot of practise to become good at any instrument.

New places available for next year for any KS2 pupils who would like to try it. Letters will be sent out in September.

Capture the Flag

Monday, 13 July 2015

Year 6 on Thursday the 9th July were runners up when they took part in a “Get Active Sports Day” playing Capture the Flag. It is a great game to play at any time with any number of people greater than six, the goal is to find the opposing team’s flag and get it to your side of the playing area without being tagged. The team narrowly missed out on a win- they won the same number of games but captured fewer flags. The team were really pleased with their performance and runners up cup.

A reminder that leave of absence can only be granted under exceptional circumstances. The Government are quite clear on the importance of children’s full attendance in school and Headteachers’ responsibilities in ensuring maximum attendance.

Leave of absence is judged on individual merit and circumstances judged in line with other schools in the area to ensure a consistent approach is achieved by all local schools.
